Choosing Cat Furniture

March 16, 2023

Does your feline pal have some furniture pieces of her own? If so, that’s great! Kitties are definitely not shy about ‘borrowing’ our beds, chairs, and sofas, but they do appreciate having things they don’t have to share with their humans. Of course, there are some things to consider when buying cat furniture. A Brantford, ON discusses shopping for Fluffy below.

All Cats

If there’s one thing that all of our feline friends love, it’s comfy beds. Store-bought ones are fine, but Fluffy also loves curling up on soft blankets placed in boxes or on ottomans. (Another thing all kitties enjoy? Boxes.)

Frisky Cats

Cat towers are great all-purrpose pieces for Fluffy. They offer nail care stations, and provide good vantage points, napping stations, and jungle gyms. If you have more than one kitty, choose one that will fit all of your pets at once. Otherwise, they may battle over the top spots. Another thing to keep in mind when picking out a cat tower? Sturdiness. Choose something that won’t move or wobble. Frisky felines may also enjoy things like catwalks and cat wheels.

Older Cats

Once Fluffy gets a little older, she may find it hard to jump on and off a high tower, or scamper up that cat tree like she used to. For senior kitties, you’ll want to choose pieces that are low to the ground and easy to get on and off.

Timid Cats

Do you have a scaredy-cat? Your little buddy may prefer something enclosed, so she has a place to go hide when she feels scared. Kitty tents and condos are good options for nervous pets.

Custom Pieces

It’s great that Fluffy uses a litterbox, as this makes caring for her much easier. However, her personal powder room isn’t exactly a great décor piece. Look for products that were specifically made for hiding litterboxes. You can also go the DIY route and upcycle something, such as an old chest. That will take time and effort, but will well worth it in the long run. These are also great as you can customize them.

Kittens

We know, there are some super cute kitten-sized things out there. However, it’s best to get things made for full-grown cats. Otherwise, you’ll be replacing Fluffy’s things pretty quickly!
